Measures to Support Accessibility
tri.x is committed to ensuring that our digital platforms are accessible to all users, regardless of their abilities or disabilities. We continually strive to improve the accessibility of our services and digital offerings by:
- Including accessibility as part of our core mission and values.
- Adopting accessibility best practices across all phases of web and app development, from design through testing.
- Ensuring accessibility is embedded in our internal policies and workflows.
- Assigning clear accessibility goals and responsibilities to team members working on our platforms.
To this end, we work closely with our developers, designers, and third-party service providers to incorporate feedback and make ongoing improvements.
Conformance Status
tri.x is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This means that while most of the content meets the WCAG 2.2 Level AA criteria, a small number of areas still require further improvement. We have addressed several new success criteria introduced in WCAG 2.2, such as improved focus visibility and prevention of unexpected changes to content.
However, the following key areas are still being worked on and will be evaluated on each release:
- Form Submit Button (WCAG 2.0 A 3.2.2): Some interactive elements may not yet provide sufficient cues or feedback on submission. We are reviewing these to ensure consistent and accessible behaviour.
- Large Enough Controls (WCAG 2.1 AAA 2.5.5): Some interactive controls do not currently meet the recommended minimum target size for touch inputs. We are identifying and updating these elements accordingly.
- Form Control Contrast (WCAG 2.1 AA 1.4.11): Certain form fields and controls may have insufficient contrast against their background, which we are addressing by updating our colour palette and CSS styling.
- Unavoidable Animation (WCAG 2.0 A 2.2.2): We are evaluating moving or animated content to ensure users have the option to pause, stop, or hide non-essential motion where appropriate.
We remain committed to achieving full compliance with WCAG 2.2 standards and are continually working to improve accessibility across all aspects of our platform.
Use of PDFS
Our primary content is delivered through accessible web formats, and any PDFs we provide are intended as supplementary resources. Please note that while PDF documents do not strictly fall under the scope of WCAG standards, we strive to ensure that any core PDFs we offer follow accessibility best practices where feasible. User-uploaded content, including PDFs, is outside of our control and may not meet accessibility standards; however, it does not affect the accessibility or usability of the platform itself. We are actively reviewing our supplementary PDF materials with the goal of enhancing their accessibility or replacing them with fully accessible web content over time.
Compatibility with Browsers and Assistive Technology
tri.x is designed to be compatible with a wide range of browsers and assistive technologies, including:
- Web Browsers:
- Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge on Windows 7, 8, 10, 11.
- Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge on Apple iOS.
- Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge on Apple MacBooks.
- Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge on Android devices.
tri.x is not fully compatible with:
- Internet Explorer 11 and earlier versions due to limited support for modern web standards.
- Small Screens or Mobile Devices with screen sizes below 4″ are not fully supported due to responsiveness limitations.
- Browsers older than three major versions may have issues with compatibility, especially with new accessibility features.
Limitations and Alternatives
While we are committed to improving accessibility, some limitations may still exist. Here are known issues that we are addressing:
- Responsiveness Issues: Formatting issues persist on some screens, especially on devices with unusual screen shapes or sizes. We are working to enhance the responsive design so that content is always accessible, regardless of screen size or orientation.
- Screen Reader Compatibility: Some sections of the website are not fully navigable by screen readers due to missing or incorrect labelling of content. We are working on restructuring the code to make it more compatible with screen reader technology.
- Colour Contrast: The cookies banner and search form currently do not meet the required 4.5:1 colour contrast ratio. We are adjusting the CSS to meet the accessibility standards.
- Incorrect Title Structure: The H1 and H2 tags are improperly structured, leading to inconsistent document flow for assistive technologies. We are addressing this by updating the HTML title structure to ensure a logical, descending order of headers.
If you experience any accessibility issues not listed above or require an alternative version of any content, please contact us directly.
Technical Specifications
tri.x relies on the following technologies to work with combinations of web browsers and assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:
- HTML: Used to structure content and ensure that it is semantic and accessible.
- CSS: Responsible for styling and providing contrast between elements, though some colour contrast issues remain.
- JavaScript: Supports dynamic content interaction and accessibility features, such as keyboard navigation and form validation.
We strive to ensure that these technologies are used in accordance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.
Assessment Approach
The accessibility of tri.x has been assessed through the following approaches:
- Self-evaluation: Our development team regularly reviews the site to identify and address accessibility issues.
- Automated Tools: Tools like Google Lighthouse, Axe DevTools, and Visual Studio Web Accessibility Checker are used to evaluate conformance with WCAG standards. We have also invested in automated scanning of manuals using SilkTide (https://silktide.com/ to highlight issues raised as content is updated.
